It's not exactly a sercret than many a woman finds the Lynx and Axe commercials irritating, but they seem to have taken it to a new level of "are you fucking kidding me?!" with their new Dark Temptation adverts.
Their new scent is called Dark Temptation and they say its scent is "inspired by what women love most...chocolate" :
"Combining the subtle aroma of chocolate with fresh gourmet scents, including hot chocolate amber and red peppercorn, to bring modern sophistication to this distinctive fragrance. So go ahead, try New AXE Dark Temptation and become as irresistible as chocolate! "
How fun that they play into that whole "women would do anything for chocolate" stereotype! And, according to their "brilliant" new adverts - if you wear Dark Temptation, not only will women dig you, we will tackle, bite, chew, lick, and straight up attack you. In fact, it will be as if you were made of chocolate! Get it?!
As I write this, this advert has played twice on E4 and it gets more and more irritating each time it plays. I can see that they're trying to be "funny" and "poke fun" at the whole "women go ape shit for chocolate!" thing, but really?
Perhaps even more annoying is that, as much as I hate to admit it, Dark Temptation actually smells really good. My husband bought it a couple of months ago and it smells really good.
So good that I ripped his arm and ate his left ear? No.
Lynx/Axe, some of you sprays don't suck. In fact, some of them smell nice. However, it would probably be within your best interest to stop pissing off female consumers.
How many of us do the shopping? How many of us buy our boyfriends and partners cologne and body spray as stocking stuffers at Christmas? Plus, how many of us help our boyfrends pick out what deodorants to buy as they usually hold up a couple sprays while we're at the grocery store and say, "Hey honey, what do think smells best?"
Hmmm...which one will you choose? The one that promotes women as being animalistic sex freaks who will do anything for chocolate...or the one that, oh I don't know, doesn't!
