This weekend, tons of fabulous events are going on on both sides of the pond.
Whether you’re in New York, San Francisco, London – or even all the other places in between – there must be something going on in your city, or in a city very near you.
But, before we go on to all of the things to do this weekend, we musn't forget to mention that today marks the eight anniversary of September 11th. Please don’t forget to take a few moments to honor of the people we've lost, and how the world has changed since then.
Things are, indeed, very, very different because of one day, and our thoughts are with anyone and everyone who lost family, friends, lovers and even acquaintances on September 11, 2001.
OK. Right. On to more cheerful things.
Here is are some fabulous things to do this weekend in...
San Francisco
Tonight is Twestival Local San Francisco which is taking place at 498 Broadway Street, and raising money for Operation Smile.
Then, on Saturday morning while you’re working through your Twestival hangover, why not head on over to Ghiradelli Square for the Ghiradelli Square Chocolate Festival! Yes! It’s true! A festival of chocolate.
There will be wine, chocolate, and family friendly events to be enjoyed. Plus, not only will top chefs such as Kira Lind from Kira’s Cupcakes be giving demonstrations throughout the day, but there will also be a chocolate tea party hosted by Crown & Crumpet where you can pair different teas with chocolate! Nom.
New York City
September 11th through September 13th there will be an “edible garden” taking place at the New York Botanical Garden, where you can taste everything from chocolate and tomatoes to mint and coffee and learn about different plants.
Or, if plants aren’t exactly your thing, make sure to head over to Twestival Local New York on Saturday, September 12, at 61 Wythe Avenue between N. 11th & 12th streets in Brooklyn, where they’ll be raising money for Campinteractive.
Plus, don’t forget that it’s also New York Fashion Week from the 10th through the 17th!
London
London had its Twestival Local celebration last night, however there are plenty of fabulous things still going on in the capital this weekend.
On September 12th-13th from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge “and beyond” the Mayor of London’s Thames Festival will be taking place. To join in the festivities is free, and you can purchase a festival guide for £1, which will be donated to the Thames Festival Trust.
There will be The Big Swing, which is an al fresco ballroom room with swing dancers galore, as well as fireworks, a night carnival, a fire garden and even a feast on a bridge. Feasts are fabulous on their own, but on a bridge? A FEAST ON A BRIDGE?!!? How could you turn that down?
