Are you sick of all those Christmas markets that sell the same boring things? Would you like to sell some of your vintage clothing or handmade items? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, and if you live in or near London, then you should get yourself down to The Shooting Star near Liverpool Street for one of the Waste Not, Want That
Perfect for those who love Etsy but prefer to buy things in person rather than online, Waste Not, Want That markets aim to be a little bit different. Organiser Claire Gamble says: "I wanted to make it a bit of a vintage and handmade jumble, with free pitches so people starting out can afford to sell."
The markets are running 12-5pm every other Sunday until Christmas - that's 20th November plus 4th and 18th December. There will be vintage clothing from Clarabelle, cards from Strange Fruit, glass art by Ewelina Kolaczeck, plus a mix of other sellers including gifts, handmade jewelery. There's always room for more though so, if you have something vintage or handmade to sell, do get in touch with Claire.
At this Sunday's market there will be a jewellery workshop at 1pm, plus a screening of the movie Heathers from 2pm. Other scheduled workshops are card making (4th Dec) and clothing customisation (18th Dec), and a poll for which film you'd like to see on those dates going up on the website nearer the time.
Whether you have a craft fetish that you might want to turn into a business, have just had a massive wardrobe clear out, or just want to get some unique Christmas presents, these markets are definitely worth a look. Supporting arts/crafts folk, in a pub, with a free film showing - it's the perfect excuse to meet up with friends on a Sunday afternoon too!
