This past weekend, The Independent published its list of the people they think will prove to be the top talent in 2009. Refreshingly, the majority of their list was female! Who knew!
We were thrilled to learn that The Independent chose our beloved Barunka O'Shaughnessy as "The Comedian" of 2009, as after our recent interview with her, we'vebecome a full-fledged Barunka Fangirl.
The Independent also chose Lisa Dobriskey as "The Athelete", Amy Greenhaugh as "The Model", Christine Molloy as one half of "The Filmmaker", Nasir Mazhar as "The Fashion Designer", as well as naming Rebecca Hall as "The Actress", Rachel Humphrey as "The Chef" of 2009, Lucy Kirkwood as the "The Chef", 22-year-old Rachel Riley as "The Broadcaster", and VV Brown as "The Pop Star" that we're all going to love in the next year.
That's a lot of women! We love it! And we especially love that Fiona Sturges chose women not just for the traditional roles of "novelist" or "artist", but of other professions like The Chef and even The Fashion Designer which seem to have become pretty testosterone driven lately!
Who women do you think will prove to be the biggest talent in 2009?
