Just a few minutes ago, a gigantic cupcake was sliced and served to hundreds of tourists, cake lovers and opportunistic passersby at the Covent Garden Real Food Market.
The cupcake, designed
by Culinary Olympic winner Michelle Wibowo, was indeed gigantic. And, of course, as pink as possible.
Surrounding the overweight cake was a mass crowd of people - cell phones, Flips, and SLRs raised - all dying to get a shot of the gargantuan cake in a faux cup.
And then, naturally, there was a massive queue to get a taste of the free cake.
In some countries people will stand in line for hours for their chance to get vaccinated or for fresh water or food.
In London, we queue for free cake.
You might remember that a few weeks ago, Laura and I attended a fancy shmancy 1920s tea party at Covent Garden's Real Food Market, and if the combination of a tea party and a freakishly large cupcake doesn't make you want to rush down there and get a piece of the Real Food action, I don't know what will.
The Market runs every Thursday from 12 - 9pm, until September when it runs from 12 - 8pm. (Darn that loss of sunlight!)
