This past weekend in Miami, The Black Eyed Peas played their final concert before going on an indefinite hiatus so the band’s members can focus on their supposed solo projects. The event saw guest appearances from the likes of Cee lo Green, T-Pain, and even Queen Latifa...

No matter what sector of the music industry, it’s always assumed that successful female pop stars hate each other. In the noughties it was all about Britney vs Christina, and then Christina vs Mariah Carey, and then Katy Perry vs Lady Gaga - but apparently they’re fine now. While it is sexist that women are always compared to each other and the media tries to manipulate things they’ve said or done to create some fiery feud - sometimes, female pop stars perpetuate this stereotyp...

I've never been terribly good at writing fiction. As I don't read many novels or short stories, it's tricky to work out how to structure a story correctly, so my one and only NaNoWriMo attempt was never going to be suitable for a wider audience. In order to give this another go, what I needed was some instruction and inspiration.

Today marks the American tradition of Thanksgiving, or as many have come to see it, the moment we, as a nation, are allowed to show our Christmas cheer without being mercilessly ridiculed by all the cool kids and curmudgeons. Melancholia documents the days before our Earth collides with a planet of the same name. Its first ten minutes are a dreamscape, slow motion images of space, our protagonists, and the Earth’s destruction. These are ten minutes of cinematic eye porn, beautifully shot and rendered. They are also ten dreadfully sluggish minutes, and even when the slow-motion is turned off and the film’s narrative begins, Melancholia never shakes this very measured and leisure pace. It, of cour...

Are you sick of all those Christmas markets that sell the same boring things? Would you like to sell some of your vintage clothing or handmade items? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, and if you live in or near London, then you should get yourself down to The Shooting Star near Liverpool Street for one of the Waste Not, Wan...

There are few people better to sit down and have a pint with other than Melissa Cole. Not only would she help you pick the perfect brew, she could no doubt tell you everything about it, as well as every other beer in the pub.

Rum means one thing to me: truffles. Squishy spheres of chocolate goodness, coated in chocolate vermicelli. Actually, rum means two things: truffles and Mojitos. Maybe you could add pirates to that. So, yes, rum makes me think of three things: truffles, Mojitos and pirates. The point is that I’m no rum connoisseur; my main adjective for describing rum would be “rummy”. So, I took a couple of hours on Friday night to get to know rum better. That’s how I found myself in a candle-lit wine ...
