Cults at The Mercury Lounge, in NYC

I saw Cults on the last day of March at the Mercury Lounge. They were sandwiched between Superhumanoids and Magic Kids and by the looks of it, a good handful of the crowd showed up just for Cults.

Sweet Music with Paloma Faith and Converse

If you like music, and shoes (I’m guessing you do) then Paloma Faith and Converse are about to blow your mind. The UK music scene is probably a little better than it should be given the size of the country, but we have a long history of great recording artists who are appreciated all over the world. The Beatles pretty much invented pop music and in that tradition British music stars of today are constantly striving to push the boundaries and rein...

Coquette at Kettner's in Soho

Kettner's is one of those places that you could be completely oblivious of, despite having lived in London for years.  Tucked down a tiny Soho street, this restaurant and champagne bar doesn't look like much from the outside but is delightfully decadent once you're through the doors.  It is here that Mr Carter from 40 Winks is now playing host to a regular afternoon of glamorous frivol...

BitchBuzz Review: Hanna

Joe Wright, director of benchmark period films Pride & Prejudice and Atonement, brings us something strikingly different in his newly released action thriller Hanna. Saoirse Ronan plays the title character, a 16 year old who’s lived her entire life secluded from society and civilization with her father (Eric Bana).  He’s trained her to be the perfect assassin, making her an expert in hand-to-hand combat, hunting, foreign languages and even general knowledge. The...

The Generationals' "Actor-Caster"

The appeal of The Generationals lies in their instantly catchy, crowd pleasing tunes. Their 2009 release, Con Law, serves as an example of this. Its music has been featured in more commercials and television shows than I care to mention. The New Orleans’s indie-pop duo's latest release, Actor-Caster, works in similar ways. The album is full of music that is cheerful and bright, sounds that please and serve as the appropriate soundtrack for the spring and summer months ahead....

Tips for Paris Travel on a Budget

With its gilded statues, immaculately manicured gardens, and world-renown cuisine, Paris is indisputably expensive. When you factor in a week's stay in a hotel, dining out for meals, museum tickets, Métro passes, a boat cruise on the Seine and the obligatory Ladurée visit, you’ve got yourself a bill for a few thousand dollars (and that’s without traveling as a family).
