It's not a comprehensive analysis of the modern feminist movement. But then it's not supposed to be and never claimed to be. Hannah Mudge reviews the book everyone's talking about and explains why it's so much more than mere 'fun feminism'.Journalist Caitlin Moran's much-anticipated memoir-cum-feminist rant, entitled How To Be A Woman, was published less than a week ago, but the buzz surrounding it has b...

Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake are back together again!?? Oh wait, it’s just a film.Your local multiplex is probably overrun with mediocre comedies, trading on tired old jokes, farcical premises and non-existent characters; so will Bad Teacher actually make us laugh? I like Cameron Diaz, I like looking at her, and I even like just hearing her voice. I understand she’s not the greatest actress of her generation or anything, in fact not even Martin Scor...

The top foodie event of the summer social calendar has arrived. Taste of London returns to the capital, as Regent’s Park plays host to a culinary display of the finest form. Across four days, foodies gather to sample delectable treats from Michelin starred restaurants to well-known celebrity haunts. I was lucky enough to get my first taste (see what I did there?!) of the festival last year and returned with gusto on Friday to sample my way through as many miniature meals as possible.

While they're mostly associated with small children and babies, puppets are actually quite popular amongst grown-ups. (My personal favourite are sock puppets. HILARIOUS.)From Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, to The Muppets, on-screen puppets can be as entertaining as they are cuddly, if not down right hilarious. Mel Gibson's new movie The Beaver stars a puppet, and while the title may be a bit, um questionable - as are Mel Gibson's views on a lot of things - there's clearly some...

Patricia V. Davis wants every woman to reclaim her inner Diva and be the most confident, capable and dynamic person she can be. In The Diva Doctrine, she recounts the hard-learned lessons of her life so far on the road to Diva-dom. Here’s a bit of history for you. I used to work with a number of other bloggers in a media company, including one young editor who was an avid Vox user. One day, she pointed me in the direction of an excellent post by a budding Amer...

Summer blockbuster season is here! But will the X-men prequel live up to the hype…?The last instalment of the X-Men franchise was only a few years ago, so I was thrilled to find out there was more mutant mayhem on the horizon, it’s an exciting prospect for a comic book nerd like myself. Of course X-Men: The Last Stand wasn’t to everyone’s taste, the auteurship and vision that Bryan Singer had brought to the first two X-Men films was somewhat lost in Brett...

What we really need isn't a summer blockbuster, but a summer fling. The Wyndham's lively 80s-themed production of Shakespeare's most popular comedy, Much Ado About Nothing, as directed by Josie Rourke offers a sunnily irresistible brightness. Despite its self-deprecating title, this frothy comedy has at its heart a painful tragedy: the ease with which men in ...

With summer on our doorstep comes the inevitable flood of summer movies. We’ve reached a point in popular culture where this means that about half, if not more, of what will play in theaters is some kind of take on a comic book super hero. While films like The Dark Knight and Iron Man have raised the bar as far as quality goes when speaking about super hero films, there is one thing that seems especially lacking in the genre: vaginas, or rather super vaginas.

London is awash with burlesque and cabaret shows, but they can often be rather similar. Short performances are always linked together by a compere and occasionally organisers plan the show around a theme, but this is usually in a traditional variety show format. It seems that there is perhaps room for something a little bit different.
