If the idea of spending an evening in, all by yourself, sipping wine and wolfing down cheese whilst watching French film after French film sounds like the best thing ever - you might want to sit yourself down.
Sky are now launching a new channel called Cinémoi, the first all French film channel, which will feature some off the most romantic, kick ass movies to ever grace the silver screen. Launching February 23rd, Cinémoi showcases fully subtitled French films and documentaries, spanning over the last 100 years.
From Bridget Bardot in Le Mepris, to Catherine Denevue in Belle Du Jour and Audrey Tatou in Amélie,Cine
Lumière’s Julien Plante has curated a fantastic line-up of films for Cinémoi. Plante explains,
"We
are really excited about launching Cinémoi
in the UK. The growth of French cinema and the
increasing numbers of people with a real passion for it means that this feels
like the perfect time to launch the channel.
With over 30 new films every month, Cinémoi
will be a celebration of all things French, packaged to communicate glamour,
style, quality and entertainment."
Tres exciting, non?
From February 23rd until April 6th, folks in the UK who have Sky will be able to enjoy a taste of Cinémoi for free on Sky 839. Costing £7.99 a month, or £100 per year, if you love French films, Cinémoi is definitely the way to go. (Stay tuned to find out how one lucky BitchBuzz reader will be able to win a year's subscription to Cinémoi!)
I'm resisting the urge to go in to intricate detail about how, once a month, you and your friends could hold one big French party, supping on brie and slamming back daintily sipping French champagne as classics like Jules et Jim or "Oh la la" films like A Secret. You could even make it a fancy dress party and dress up as your favorite French actress!
