I know national cupcake week is over, but for those of you who aren't totally cupcaked-out there's an interesting artist worth checking out. Amsterdam based photographer Elza Jo digs deeper into the icing and manages to turn cupcakes something both scary and cute at the same time.
I like how Elza Jo dares to be a bit different than a lot of other female artists. Yes, the fashion element is there. Yes, a lot of her photos are self-portraits and Elza Jo is a skinny, attractive white girl.
Not many surprises there. But she manages to take those arty clichés and turn them into something more. Many of her pictures are quite dark, even though they're filled with beads and icing.
