A Very Merry Christmas at Covent Garden Piazza

By Cate Sevilla

While the Oxford Street Christmas lights aren't exactly all that fantastic this year, I'm hoping that the lights at my favorite part of London, Covent Garden, will prove to be as dazzling as they're building them up to be.

A Very Merry Christmas is the theme for this year's holiday celebrations for Covent Garden, and while I found the lack of a food market at Covent Garden really disappointing last year, this year is looking really promising.

Coined to be full of "old fashioned nostalgia", UnitedVisualArtists have built a bespoke light destination, as well as there being reindeer petting, falling snow, and giant topiary candy canes and reindeers.

The Real Food Market will be running all through the holiday season, as well, so you can still get delicious desserts and food, just as you could during the summer.

Yet no matter how old school and nostalgic Covent Garden want their holiay theme to be, they’re still doing something very new as one lucky winner can win the chance to  turn on the Christmas lights at A Very Merry Christmas light switch-on! And how do you become this lucky person?

Through Twitter of course.

If you follow Covent Garden on Twitter, you simply need to tweet your Covent Garden Christmas Wish  and hash tag it with #averymerrychristmas”. If the Covent Garden fairies like your tweet the best, you get to turn on the lights! Exciting, non?

Do make sure to pop on down to the switch-on of the Covent Garden Christmas lights. The festivities start at 5pm, and some of the BItchBuzz team will be down to cover the event. (And to perhaps sip on some mulled wine... and pet some reindeer.)
