Do you need some culture in your life? Are you sick of the same old dinner and a movie routine every Friday night? Try something new and exciting. Grab your girlfriend or your adventure-seeking date and add a little art and culture to your evening. I have some great ideas on how to give a little flavor to your weekend.
*Go online and see if there are any art openings near you. These can be an excellent way to see some amazing artwork and meet some new people. They usually serve wine, cheese, and fruit plates, so you can hobnob with the best, while you’re getting liquored up for free.
*If you like movies, but you’re tired of the same big-budget extravaganzas, check out an art-house cinema. These places usually show a variety of outstanding independent and foreign films. You may have never heard of them, but some of these films are hidden gems.
*Look in the local newspaper for some plays and musicals in the area. If you can’t make it into the city, many towns have community theaters that put on fantastic shows. Check out the listings and reviews to find the show that best suits your tastes.
*Treat yourself to a special evening of culinary delights. There are many restaurants that feature nights where the head chef prepares dinner for a small, intimate group of patrons, all for a pre-fixed price. Although, some of these are quite pricey, they can be wonderful experiences, especially for couples or a small group.
*Experience some live music. There are a ton of lounges, restaurants, and bars where you can find some great jazz, blues, rock, folk, etc. It all depends on what you’re in the mood for. The cover charges are usually low, and it’s a fun way to waste away the night.
*Remember, culture doesn’t mean “boring”. Find the event or place that fits you the best. There are countless ways to have a great time without falling asleep in the process. Invite some friends along – and inject a little culture into your usual Friday night plans.
